    Hi Gail!
I wanted you to know that I used what I learned in your course for my first plein air trip TODAY!
I was able to use my viewfinder to find my site, followed by a few thumbnails to nail down the composition and values. Then I drew in a light outline on my board, and managed to get the sky blocked in before I had to leave. (I am not very fast at any of this yet….)

So, while I wasn’t able to get all the major shapes blocked in, I now have enough information with my value sketch, my drawing, my photos, and my MEMORY to do my picture justice!
    Thanks, Gail!
I hope you have great success with your course, and look forward to more offerings πŸ™‚

(P.S. I also brought home a slight sunburn…! Next time I will add sunscreen to my supplies!)

    1. Gail Sibley says:

Rhonda that’s fantastic!! I’m jiggying about with delight. There’s nothing like putting what you’ve learnt to use immediately. Good for you!
And yes, put sunscreen on the list πŸ™‚

What a wonderful course!! They say that a picture is worth 1000words, well watching the creation of a picture and hearing the thought process at the same time is a priceless educational tool! I learned so much in 21/2 hr.s. I painted a picture of my own right along with Gail so I could experience each process as it was given. I never knew how easily one can erase, correct, and change colors if you use a LIGHT touch! I was impressed how important each small stroke was to the outcome of the finished work. I was thrilled to see just what one takes and how the set up looks when painting en plein air. The progression of the painting from choice of scene to
cleaning the pastel was invaluable! I can’t wait for more courses from Gail! Congratulations on a job well done!

    Hi Gail
Thank you for sharing your great knowledge with clarity and enthusiasm. I do love this program. However , I’m having a little problem with viewing your wonderful course.
About a minute into the lesson six video on adding color the picture went away and the circle went round and round the arrow and it was just stuck there. The video never returned and the sound was gone as well? Back in October 2015 I think I sent you a note about the same problem and you fixed it somehow. Any ideas what we can do to correct it this time? I can’t wait to get back to the lessons.
Thanks so much for all you do for all of us out here in pastel land,
    Shelley

    1. Gail Sibley says:

      Hi Shelley,
I went back to our emails and found that you wrote and said that problem had corrected itself. I am hoping this will happen again. Sometimes just refreshing your browser will work. You can also try clearing your cache. What browser are you using? I know for some, Firefox and Chrome work best.
As you may have read, Terry my tech guy died unexpectedly a month ago. He was the person who dealt with all these glitches. I do remember though that he always asked me to ask about browsers and internet speed. Anyway, hope things clear up. Let me know πŸ™‚

    Hi Gail,
Have gone through the course and have thoroughly enjoyed it. I am unable to open the two chapters after the audio interview. Thanks, Julia

    1. Gail Sibley says:

Julia, you should be able to do so now. Thanks for letting me know.

I am computer challenged and I’m scared to death that I will do something to “screw” things up!
do I understand correctly…$45 dollars for a 2 hour course..that is it? Please let me know!

    1. Gail Sibley says:

      Hi Dee,
Yes, you understand correctly. Once you’ve paid, if you have any trouble logging on, be sure to let me know. You should be fine though πŸ™‚

    Gail,

Almost done with my first view of the course… will take the time to look at it all again.

I have been a pastel artist for many years and want to expand to more plein air as when I have done it, I am always amazed at how much more you see as far as colors and values.

I love your use of colors on those hay bales and the field in the middle. You are so courageous and the outcome is fabulous. Hopefully I will one day have the courage to go more with value rather than color. I have recently re-organized my pastel box by value but have not had the time to use it yet.

Of lots of value to me was your assessment of the piece at the end and in knowing what needed changing – just wonderful advise. I surely will put to use.

    Thanks again,

    Gisela

    1. Gail Sibley says:

WOW – you are fast Gisela. And such an action taker. Good for you!!
I’m so glad to hear the course has been helpful. And thank you for your kind words about the piece.
Look forward to seeing your results in the Facebook group πŸ™‚

  7. Penny Stedman says:

Just completed my viewing of the plein air course. So enjoyed listening to your thought process as you worked. Loved your use of colour especially in those hay bales! It was really enlightening to see how you have such a light touch with the pastels and how that allows so many layers to be used. Looking forward to getting out and practising what I learned. Thank you!

    1. Gail Sibley says:

Penny, so happy to hear you like the course!! Now go put what you learnt into practice!

  8. Linnea doden says:

Can you download these courses? Is $47 for the entire plein air course?

    1. Gail Sibley says:

Linnea the videos are streaming rather than downloadable. And yes, the $47 is for the entire plein air pastel course πŸ˜€

  9. Dianne Adams says:

When I first got into the course, I was thinking that I already knew a lot of the information given, and was hoping that I had not spent money on something that would not help me further my study of pastels. However, as time went on, I grew not only to love the course, but to also love Gail. She is such a thorough teacher who is funny, bright, cheerful and a great cheerleader! I just finished the course through watching all the lessons. Now I will go back through it, with all my videos and printed pdf’s, and do the exercises. I’m anxious to put the knowledge to use! I am one of those with a busy life with family members..caretakers for both young and old; and I am not the most time organized person, but I hope to follow Gail’s suggestion of painting a little each day. I’ve been inspired, so now I have to keep the inspiration going. Even though I may have liked some of the lessons to be combined rather than so many little things, maybe that’s what kept things moving along. I look forward to seeing what I can do with Gail’s help!

  10. Brad Evans says:

I enjoyed the videos. You explain things clearly. I did all the exercises in tandem with the videos. Thanks for a good course. I am certain to return to it repeatedly in the future.

    1. Gail Sibley says:

Brad I LOVE hearing that!!! And congratulations on doing the exercises in tandem with the lessons!!

  11. Sherrie Gerber says:

    Just joined. Now discipline!
VERY new… not a drawer but hope to learn!
    Thank you,
    Sherrie

    1. Gail Sibley says:

Yay Sherrie! I know you’ll learn LOTS here. And one of these days, I will put together a drawing/observation course… πŸ™‚

      1. Sherrie Gerber says:

That’s really where I need to start is the basic β€˜how to draw … β€˜. I’ll get there!

  12. Nathalie Haesbrouck says:

Your course is precisely what I need now.
    Thanks a lot!
    Nathalie

    1. Gail Sibley says:

Nathalie, that is so good to hear!! I hope you will leave a review when you are done πŸ™‚
